1. Achasan Mountain
Achasan is well-known as the most "cost-effective" hiking course, where you can overlook the entire Han River in just 30 minutes. While many travelers are familiar with trendy spots in the same district like Konkuk University and Seongsu-dong, they often overlook Gwangjin-gu itself. Accessible in just 30 minutes by public transport, this mountain offers a light hike for avid hikers and a perfect amount of exercise for those who don't usually hike, all while providing stunning views of Seoul.
While Naver or Kakao Maps will typically guide you through Exit 2 of Achasan Station, coming through Exit 1 allows you to pass through a local "Meokja-golmok" (Food Alley). This route is not only great for prepping before your hike but also offers a glimpse into local life. Another unique charm of Achasan is its food culture; while it's common in Korea to have Jeon (savory pancakes) and Makgeolli after a hike, Achasan has a distinct tradition of pairing Makgeolli with Tofu. You will see many tofu shops along the trail, and the place shown in the last photo is a highly recommended restaurant that is always popular.

2. Seoul Children's Grand Park
Located just one subway station away from the trendy Konkuk University area, this park is a must-visit, especially if you’re traveling with children. Most importantly, entry is free, though there are additional fees if you wish to use the amusement park rides.
- Park Hours: AM 05:00 ~ PM 10:00
- Zoo Hours: AM 10:00 ~ PM 05:00 (Subject to change due to weather or quarantine conditions)
For safety, bicycles, scooters, inline skates, and electric toy cars are restricted. However, from spring to autumn, the park is beautifully maintained, attracting many visitors just for picnics. Don't worry if you didn't bring any food; there are convenience stores inside, and the "Palgakjeong" (octagonal pavilion) operates a cafe.
The park is home to various animals, including meerkat, otters, monkeys, elephants, hyenas, tigers, lions, and alpacas. With a botanical garden also on-site, there is plenty to enjoy all day long.

3. Zayang Traditional Market
While Seoul has many famous traditional markets like Gwangjang or Tongin, there are also many local markets that aren't yet crowded with tourists. Zayang Traditional Market may not be as massive as Gyeongdong or Garak Market, but it is incredibly well-organized and packed with everything you need. Since it is located in a genuine residential neighborhood rather than a tourist district, the prices are very affordable and reasonable.
It is a perfect place to experience the "real" daily life of Seoulites while enjoying delicious street food at local prices.
